Week 1 Wrap Up!

DU’s first team-based race circuit competition kicked off this week as the Captain’s Customs Cup finally left the starting line.

With a new year comes a new Race Night! The first Captain’s Customs Cup is up and running following a successful first week.

The action began with the Racing Bike Circuit where JarusPhalanx (CLAT) stormed around the GTFMINI course in 2:16. Surprise newcomer for the GTF team Sharkey posted second, with rexsilex in third. A DNF for D4nkkn1ght (OBS) and a terrible run for SinDex66 (ARG) were surprises for the round.

Then the Wasp League kicked off with a Sanc Run style race. D4nkkn1ght redeemed himself with the fastest time to Sanctuary and back, with rexsilex and Jarus in second and third respectively.

Next was the Market Run. In a slight change to the previous issue, the Market Run is now to feature a best-of three feature (unless teams specifically request just one race), with both team pilots facing off against their opposing team.

The Market Run was supposed to see Argent taking a bye round, but PVR did not have a pilot, meaning Collateral Damage faced off against Obsidian, and GTF against Argent. In the first match up, D4nk failed to finish against Jarus, while rex came in ahead of AngryDad (CLAT), leading to a tie-breaker. In the final race, Jarus once again made it home first to post a CLAT win. In the other race, as neither pilot had made a Market Run before, the choice was made to run once only and Sharkey pulled the goods over SinDex66 to win for GTF.

The last race was the ObsidianHydro near the lighthouse. Jarus posted a 3:14 to win again, followed by Sharkey and AngryDad. Sadly, despite posting a track record of 2:51 in practice, SinDex66 crashed out for a dismal showing to Argent.
