And in with the new!

I just finished posting the final PDF/PNG edition of The Oily Rag to the various Discords it features on, advising that it would be the last of its kind. Instead, The Oily Rag lives on here, under the auspices of what I’m going to call its “parent” organisations: Tyr Expeditionary Group and Argent Galactic. The future of the Oily Rag will be a more article-based approach that isn’t limited by the space constraints of a one-page ‘screamsheet’ and which can be a little more reactive to events and happenings within the racing community.

So, welcome to the future Noveans.

By way of new beginnings it is worth explaining what The Oily Rag is and why it is here. The Rag was developed as a way of compiling and commenting on the DU racing community, a group of individuals who have been developing a range of race tracks and race constructs, and then using them to compete against each other, at least since the launch of the beta (and, almost certainly beforehand). This community usually meets on a Friday night (EST, which for those of us who happen to live in Australia ends up being Saturday morning) for a regular event called Race Night. If you are interested in joining us, all you need to do is show up at whatever track is being used (usually posted in Discord) and hang out.

Of course there’s more to it than that, and we’ve just finished the first competitive teams season (the Captain’s Customs Cup), with the Galactic Trade Federation becoming the inaugural DU Racing champions. You can get involved more directly by joining the DU Racing Discord (just message me for an invite: SinDex66#8766) or by joining AngryDad’s Twitch stream on Race Nights.

The Oily Rag aims to cover major goings-on in the racing world, but it’s always better to be there.

That’s it for the moment. I hope you enjoy the new format, and I hope to see you next Friday Night on the track!

The Oily Rag is an Argent Galactic publication written and edited by SinDex66 (SinDex66#8766).
